For outdoor thrill-seekers and risk-takers, there’s nothing like mountain biking in the peaks of North Vancouver. The North Shore is home to world-famous epic rides, an incredible variety of challenging and exciting trails, and of course, breathtaking scenery.
MTB professionals will agree that it’s a sport designed for people who are adventurous by nature, and if you don’t know where to start mountain biking, there’s an amazing, active community in the Greater Vancouver area. If you’re passionate about tearing up a trail and looking for a fresh challenge, we’ve got a couple of North Van Adventures just for you!
Be warned: equipment, advanced biking skills and a try anything attitude are required.
Freeride on Fromme
The middle (and some say best) of the three North Shore mountains, Fromme is the home of mountain biking in the area. It can get busy on Fromme, but once you start ascending, there’s more than enough to choose from for any rider. The mountain features a complicated network of trails with more than a few surprises, including flow trails, technical trails and legendary man made features.
This Adventure lasts around 3 hours, and can be as simple or technical as you want, with an easy climb up and the opportunity to ride the type of trail that suits you best.
BYO: bike, helmet and pads, and come prepared to ride, tubes and tools provided if needed. Not for the faint of heart, or beginners! Advanced riding experience required.
Shredding Mount Seymour
Pedal up Mount Seymour and experience the amazing climb and descent trails of the North Shore. From man made features, steep natural rock formations, and awesome single tracks to more mellow paths—if you want to ride, Mount Seymour has got it!
You’ll need to bring your own bike, helmet and pads, and be open to rain and mud (depending on the weather) and whatever the mountain might throw at you! This Adventure is above a beginner level, advanced riding experience required.
The Local: Geoff Gulevich
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Geoff has been professional mountain biker for the past 15 years. As one of the most photographed and filmed freeriders in the sport, slopestyle and freeride competitions alongside photo and movie shoots around the world keep him busy and moving.
With 5th-place finishes at both the Red Bull Rampage and Crankworx Whistler—the two biggest contests in freeride mountain biking—Geoff is considered one of best freeriders in the world.
When he’s not traveling the world for mountain biking, you can find him in the mountains near home. Geoff is also an avid skier and snowboarder, loves hiking the North Shore mountains and introducing people to the unparalleled beauty of North Vancouver.
