Top 5 Shoulder Season Adventures to Try this Fall

Fall, aka shoulder season, is in full swing and we’re happy to report it is filled with activities equally as adventurous as the summer season. The change in season offers us the chance to switch up your adventures and enjoy the outdoors at your own pace. One of our favourite things about shoulder season is that you can plan your activities at any time of day; there’s no need to worry about the heat; simply get outside and enjoy!

While we eagerly await the winter season, here are a few activities we think you’ll like this fall.

1. Hiking

Autumn is for tranquil time on the trails. Between the cooler weather, changing leaves, and fewer crowds, it is one of our favourite times to hit up the hikes we may have missed during the summer. For those who like a local’s perspective, explore with a Yervana Local through places such as the Rocky Foothills, Stanley Glacier Valley, Johnston Canyon, or the magnificent Maligne Canyon! When you head out on a guided hike you not only get to experience the area but you will learn the locals perspective of the area as well!

2. Biking

While the mountain parks are starting their transition to the winter season, there are still some great opportunities for local rides. Both mountain biking and road biking are great options in autumn! Plus, once the snow starts to fall you can even trade in your bike wheels for a fat bike to keep the riding season rolling!

3. Fishing

If the trails are too muddy for mountain biking or hiking, fishing could be the perfect autumn adventure for you! Fall after all is the optimal season for Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing. Whether you’re an avid angler or you’ve never tried the sport, heading out with a Yervana Local will give you firsthand knowledge of the techniques, waters, and ethical practices! 4. Indigenous Outdoor Adventure

There’s no better time than the present to learn more about the Indigenous cultures and traditions within the areas you like to explore.

If your exploring in the Sea to Sky area, consider booking an authentic Indigenous walking tour at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to learn the stories from an Indigenous guide.

5. Culinary

Autumn gives the perfect opportunity to slow down and explore new areas through cuisine! Whether you’d opt for a laid back food tour or explore local breweries by bike, Yervana Locals are sure to show you the best places to try! Check out all of the tasty adventure options!

Let the Shoulder Season Adventure Begin!

As we wind down from a hectic summer the green hillsides become bright with the changing fall foliage, there are plenty of activities to fill your days! After all, the more adventure-filled shoulder season we have, the quicker winter will roll around!
